HENDERSON, Nev. — March 14, 2026 — The No. 18 College of Southern Nevada Coyotes rallied late Saturday afternoon to defeat No. 25 Central Arizona College, 7–6, in the final game of the three-game ACCAC series at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.
With the victory, CSN improved to 22–5 overall and 7–2 in ACCAC play.
The Coyotes opened the scoring in the third inning. Jeffrey Peters III reached base and advanced into scoring position before Harvey Smerdon drove him in with a groundout, giving CSN an early 1–0 lead.
CSN extended the advantage in the fourth inning. Jase DeSantis tripled down the right-field line and scored on an RBI single by Joseph Randazzo. Later in the inning, Jeffrey Peters III delivered an RBI single to plate Jacob Nelson, pushing the Coyotes' lead to 3–0.
Central Arizona answered in the fifth inning with a pair of runs on RBI singles by Jaylen Payne and Ty Silva to cut the deficit to 3–2. The Vaqueros tied the game in the sixth inning when Cannon Albright delivered an RBI single to center field.
Central Arizona then surged ahead in the seventh inning. Grant Haas doubled down the right-field line to drive in a run before scoring on a throwing error, giving the Vaqueros a 5–3 advantage.
The Coyotes rallied in the bottom of the seventh. Alex Rhynes reached base and later scored on an RBI single by Jase DeSantis, and CSN tied the game moments later when Joseph Randazzo reached on an error that allowed Brandon Swanson to cross the plate.
Central Arizona briefly regained the lead in the eighth inning when Ty Silva tripled down the left-field line and scored a run to put the Vaqueros ahead 6–5.
CSN responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Gehrig Pineda reached base before Harvey Smerdon singled to put two runners on. With two outs, Evan Festa delivered the decisive swing, lining a two-run single up the middle to score both runners and give the Coyotes a 7–6 lead.
On the mound, Boston Jensen earned the win after recording two strikeouts in one inning of relief, improving to 1–1 on the season. Benjamin Schroeder closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning to secure his third save of the year.
DeSantis led the Coyotes offensively with two hits including a triple and an RBI, while Smerdon and Randazzo each collected two hits. Festa finished with two RBIs, including the game-winning hit in the eighth inning as CSN totaled 10 hits in the contest.
The Coyotes will return to ACCAC play next weekend on the road when they travel to Yuma, Arizona to face No. 19 Arizona Western College in a three-game series beginning Friday, March 20. Full schedule and coverage information can be found at www.csncoyotes.com
