YUMA, Ariz. — March 20, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes opened their ACCAC road series with a strong all-around performance Friday afternoon, defeating No. 19 Arizona Western College, 5–0, at the Matador Baseball Field.
CSN set the tone early with dominant pitching and timely hitting, improving to 23–5 overall and 8–3 in ACCAC play with the victory.
After three scoreless innings, the Coyotes broke through in the fourth. Harvey Smerdon singled and advanced before Brandon Swanson delivered an RBI single to give CSN a 1–0 lead.
The Coyotes extended the advantage in the fifth inning. Grant Smith singled and Gehrig Pineda followed with a double to put runners in scoring position. Smerdon then came through with a two-run single to push the lead to 3–0.
CSN added to its lead again in the sixth. Swanson doubled to open the inning and later scored on a passed ball. Moments later, Smith delivered an RBI double to bring home Jase DeSantis, extending the Coyotes' lead to 5–0.
Smerdon led the Coyotes offensively, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Swanson added two hits and an RBI. Smith also recorded two hits and an RBI, and Pineda chipped in with a double as CSN totaled 10 hits in the game.
On the mound, James Bradford delivered a dominant outing, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out four to earn the win. Tee Southisene worked a scoreless inning in relief to complete the shutout.
