HENDERSON, Nev. — March 14, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada closed out its ACCAC series against Arizona Western College with a 7–5 victory Saturday afternoon at Lady Coyote Field, securing the series win and improving to 17–11 overall and 6–2 in ACCAC play.
The Lady Coyotes struck first in the bottom of the opening inning. Jaydah Chun singled to start the frame and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Mattingly Mauzey. Chloe Tepraseuth followed with an RBI triple to center field to score Chun. Moments later, Tepraseuth crossed the plate on a rundown play after Destinee Lopez drew a walk, giving CSN an early 2–0 lead.
Arizona Western answered in the second inning when Riley Purdy singled to bring home Nyomi Houston and cut the deficit to 2–1.
The Matadors tied the game in the fourth inning when Larissa Rueda hit a solo home run to left field.
CSN quickly regained the lead in the bottom half of the fourth. Athena Tonga'onevai worked a walk before Ellie Leatham entered as a pinch hitter and delivered a two-run home run to left field, putting the Lady Coyotes back in front 4–2.
Arizona Western responded in the fifth inning. Corinna Talbot doubled and later scored, and Rueda delivered an RBI single that helped the Matadors even the game at 4–4.
The Matadors briefly took the lead in the sixth inning when Léa Fréchette singled to drive in Riley Purdy, giving Arizona Western a 5–4 advantage.
The Lady Coyotes answered with a decisive rally in the bottom of the sixth. Jimena Barraza-Caro was hit by a pitch and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Breya Hee. After Chun was retired on a popup, Mauzey delivered an RBI single to tie the game. Tepraseuth followed with an RBI double to score Mauzey, and Lopez added an RBI single to extend the lead to 7–5.
CSN collected 11 hits in the win. Tepraseuth led the offense with two hits, including a triple and double, while driving in two runs and scoring twice. Mauzey added two hits and an RBI, and Chun finished with two hits and a run scored. Leatham's pinch-hit home run provided a key spark in the middle innings.
In the circle, Haley Horst tossed a complete game to earn the victory. Horst allowed five runs (four earned) on 11 hits while striking out two over seven innings.
With the win, the Lady Coyotes improve to 17–11 overall and 6–2 in ACCAC play.
CSN will return to the road next weekend as the Lady Coyotes travel to Prescott, Arizona, for a four-game ACCAC series against the Yavapai College Roughriders, beginning Friday, March 20.
