PRESCOTT, Ariz. — March 20, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada opened its four-game ACCAC road series against Yavapai College with a 3–0 victory in game one of Friday's doubleheader.
Behind a dominant performance in the circle from Haley Horst, the Lady Coyotes controlled the game from start to finish, limiting Yavapai to just four hits while keeping the Roughriders off the scoreboard.
CSN broke through in the second inning to take an early lead. After working baserunners aboard, Ellie Leatham delivered the decisive swing of the game, launching a two-run home run to give the Lady Coyotes a 2–0 advantage.
The Coyotes added an insurance run in the sixth inning. Ciana Cubi and Mattingly Mauzey each contributed offensively during the rally, with Mauzey driving in a run to extend the lead to 3–0.
CSN finished with four hits on the day. Cubi led the offense with a pair of hits, while Mauzey and Leatham each recorded a hit and an RBI. Leatham's home run accounted for two of the Coyotes' three runs.
Horst was outstanding in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout. The right-hander scattered four hits over seven innings and worked around two hit batters while keeping Yavapai off balance throughout. According to the box score on page 1, Horst allowed four hits and no runs across seven innings in the win.
CSN also showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks and applying consistent pressure despite limited hits.
With the victory, the Lady Coyotes take game one of the four-game ACCAC series in Prescott.
The teams will continue the doubleheader later Friday afternoon before concluding the series Saturday.
