YUMA, Ariz. — March 20, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes used timely hitting and a strong bullpen performance to defeat No. 19 Arizona Western College, 6–4, Friday afternoon in Game Two of the ACCAC doubleheader at the Matador Baseball Field.
With the win, CSN improved to 24–5 overall and 9–2 in ACCAC play, securing the doubleheader sweep.
The Coyotes struck first in the opening inning. Harvey Smerdon reached base and later scored on an RBI single by Evan Festa, giving CSN an early 1–0 lead.
CSN added to its advantage in the second inning. Joseph Randazzo singled and advanced before Gehrig Pineda delivered an RBI single to extend the lead to 2–0.
Arizona Western responded in the second inning and then took control in the fourth. After tying the game at 2–2, the Matadors capitalized on a triple and timely hitting to score three runs in the inning, taking a 4–2 lead.
The Coyotes answered in the sixth inning with the biggest swing of the game. Alex Rhynes doubled to lead off the inning, and Festa followed with a walk. Brandon Swanson then launched a three-run home run to put CSN back in front, 5–4.
The Coyotes added an insurance run in the ninth. Jacob Nelson reached base and later scored on an RBI single by Pineda, extending the lead to 6–4.
Out of the bullpen, CSN shut down Arizona Western over the final innings. Benjamin Schroeder provided two scoreless innings in relief, and Mayson Reichartz earned the win with two strong innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four. Andrew Kaplan closed the game in the ninth to secure his fourth save of the season.
Offensively, Rhynes and Festa each collected two hits, while Swanson drove in three runs with his go-ahead home run. Pineda added two hits and two RBIs as the Coyotes totaled 10 hits in the victory.
