YUMA, Ariz. — March 21, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes dropped the final game of the three-game ACCAC series to No. 19 Arizona Western College, 10–6, Saturday afternoon at the Matador Baseball Field.
With the result, CSN moved to 24–6 overall and 9–3 in ACCAC play, securing the series win after sweeping Friday's doubleheader.
The Coyotes struck first in the opening inning. Harvey Smerdon doubled and advanced to third before scoring on an RBI single by Brandon Swanson, giving CSN an early 1–0 lead.
Arizona Western responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning, capitalizing on two walks before Gerardo Castro delivered a three-run home run to give the Matadors a 3–1 advantage.
CSN answered in the second inning with a strong rally. Joseph Randazzo reached and moved into scoring position before Carson Anderson singled. Smerdon followed with an RBI single, and Alex Rhynes delivered a run-scoring hit to tie the game. Later in the inning, Evan Festa brought home another run with a groundout to give the Coyotes a 4–3 lead.
The Matadors tied the game in the third inning and the teams traded runs into the middle innings. CSN regained the lead in the fifth when Rhynes scored on a fielder's choice, and added another run in the sixth as Gehrig Pineda scored on an RBI single by Rhynes to make it 6–5.
Arizona Western took control in the sixth inning. After tying the game, the Matadors strung together key hits, including a triple from Castro, to regain the lead at 7–6.
The Matadors broke the game open in the seventh inning, adding three more runs, highlighted by a solo home run from Jamie Beerman and RBI hits from Parker Husu and Castro to extend the lead to 10–6.
Rhynes led the Coyotes offensively, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Smerdon added two hits and a run scored. Swanson and Festa each drove in a run, and CSN totaled eight hits in the contest.
On the mound, Dylan Venturini started for the Coyotes, allowing five runs over 4.2 innings while striking out four. Andrew Overland was charged with the loss, and the Coyotes used multiple arms out of the bullpen to finish the game.
The Coyotes will return home next weekend to host Eastern Arizona College in a three-game ACCAC series at Lied Field | Morse Stadium. The series begins Friday with a doubleheader, with Game One scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch. The series finale will be played Saturday.
