Coyotes Explode for 12 Runs to Defeat Eastern Arizona in Series Opener

HENDERSON, Nev. — March 27, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes used a dominant offensive performance and timely power hitting to defeat Eastern Arizona College, 12–4, Friday afternoon in the opening game of a three-game ACCAC series at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.

With the victory, CSN improved to 25–6 overall and 10–3 in ACCAC play.

Eastern Arizona struck first with two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Coyotes answered immediately with a four-run bottom half to take control.

Harvey Smerdon started the rally with a single, and after a pair of walks loaded the bases, Jase DeSantis drew an RBI walk to put CSN on the board. Moments later, Caden Kirby delivered a two-run single to give the Coyotes the lead, and Jake Gorrell followed with an RBI groundout to make it 4–2.

CSN added to the lead in the second inning when Alex Rhynes doubled to center field, bringing home Smerdon to extend the advantage to 5–2.

Eastern Arizona cut into the lead with two runs in the third, but the Coyotes continued to respond. CSN added a run in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk by Kirby, then broke the game open in the fifth inning when Smerdon launched a two-run home run to push the lead to 8–4.

The Coyotes put the game out of reach in the sixth inning. Kirby delivered a two-run home run, and later in the inning Grant Smith followed with a two-run home run of his own as CSN extended the lead to 12–4.

Kirby led the offensive surge, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs, while Smerdon finished with four runs scored and a home run. Rhynes added two hits and an RBI, and Smith contributed a two-run homer as part of CSN's 11-hit attack.

On the mound, James Bradford earned the win to improve to 6–0, allowing four runs on nine hits over five innings while striking out four. Benjamin Schroeder and Andrew Overland combined for two scoreless innings of relief to close out the victory.

The Coyotes and Gila Monsters will continue the three-game ACCAC series later Friday with the second game of the doubleheader at Morse Stadium. The series finale is scheduled for Saturday. Full schedule and coverage information can be found at www.csncoyotes.com
