Coyotes Edge Eastern Arizona 3–2, Clinch Series Victory

HENDERSON, Nev. — March 27, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes used timely hitting and a strong bullpen effort to defeat Eastern Arizona College, 3–2, Friday evening in Game Two of the ACCAC series at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.

With the win, CSN improved to 26–6 overall and 11–3 in ACCAC play, securing the series victory.

Eastern Arizona broke through first in the third inning. After a pair of singles put runners on, Reece Van Devander delivered a two-run single through the left side to give the Gila Monsters a 2–0 lead.

The Coyotes responded in the bottom half of the inning. Harvey Smerdon singled and later stole third before scoring on an RBI single by Evan Festa, cutting the deficit to 2–1.

CSN evened the score in the fourth inning. Carson Anderson singled and advanced to third on a base hit by Jeffrey Peters III. Gehrig Pineda then laid down a sacrifice bunt to bring Anderson home, tying the game at 2–2.

Both pitching staffs settled in over the middle innings as neither team was able to break through.

The Coyotes took the lead in the eighth inning through aggressive baserunning. Jake Gorrell drew a walk and moved to second on a single by Peters III before advancing to third when Gehrig Pineda was hit by a pitch. During the ensuing sequence, Gorrell broke for home and scored on a steal as Pineda was picked off at first, giving CSN a 3–2 advantage.

On the mound, Christopher Wrench turned in a solid start, allowing two runs on seven hits over five innings while striking out five. Boston Jensen added a scoreless sixth inning, and Mayson Reichartz earned the win with two shutout innings of relief, striking out four. Andrew Kaplan closed the game in the ninth to secure his fifth save of the season.

Offensively, Festa led the Coyotes with three hits and an RBI, while Smerdon and Alex Rhynes each collected two hits as CSN totaled 11 hits in the contest.

The Coyotes and Gila Monsters will conclude the three-game ACCAC series Saturday at Lied Field | Morse Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.. Full schedule and coverage information can be found at www.csncoyotes.com
