Eastern Arizona Rallies Late to Edge Lady Coyotes in Game Two

HENDERSON, Nev. — March 27, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada saw a late lead slip away as Eastern Arizona College rallied for four runs in the sixth inning to claim a 4–3 victory in game two of Friday's ACCAC doubleheader at Lady Coyote Field.

The Lady Coyotes controlled the game early, manufacturing runs in the second and third innings to build a 3–0 advantage.

In the second inning, Athena Tonga'onevai doubled to left field to spark the rally. Miken Jacobsen followed with a single, and after Mariela Rodriguez worked a walk, CSN capitalized on defensive miscues to plate two runs and take a 2–0 lead.

CSN added to the advantage in the third inning. Breya Hee singled and advanced into scoring position before Ellie Leatham delivered a base hit. Tonga'onevai followed with an RBI single to extend the Lady Coyotes' lead to 3–0.

Eastern Arizona was held scoreless through the first five innings, but broke through in the sixth. A pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases before Malayah Renteria drove in a run. Nuvia Urquiza followed with a two-run single to tie the game, and Analise Montiel added an RBI single to give the Gila Monsters a 4–3 lead.

CSN threatened in the bottom of the seventh. Reggi Frei drew a walk and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Jaydah Chun, but Eastern Arizona retired the final two batters to secure the win.

The Lady Coyotes finished with seven hits in the contest. Hee led the offense with two hits, while Tonga'onevai added two hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Leatham also collected a hit, and Frei added an RBI in the loss.

In the circle, Brooklynn Richardson started and allowed four runs on five hits over 5.2 innings. Callie Averett entered in relief and recorded the final four outs.

Eastern Arizona finished with six hits, all coming in key moments, including the decisive four-run sixth inning.

With the loss, the Lady Coyotes move to 22–12 overall and 10–4 in ACCAC play.

The four-game ACCAC series will conclude Saturday at Lady Coyote Field with a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 a.m.
