HENDERSON, Nev. — March 27, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada dropped a 6–3 decision to Eastern Arizona College in the opening game of a four-game ACCAC series Friday afternoon at Lady Coyote Field.
Eastern Arizona capitalized early, taking advantage of defensive miscues in the first inning. After reaching on errors, the Gila Monsters pushed across two unearned runs to take a 2–0 lead.
The Lady Coyotes answered in the bottom half of the inning. Jaydah Chun reached base and advanced into scoring position before Chloe Tepraseuth delivered an RBI double to bring her home and cut the deficit to 2–1.
Eastern Arizona extended its lead in the second inning. A pair of singles set up an RBI hit from Vanessa Gavigan, giving the visitors a 3–1 advantage.
The game broke open in the fourth inning when Eastern Arizona plated three runs on four hits, highlighted by a two-run home run from Analise Montiel and an RBI triple from Madeline Reed, stretching the lead to 6–1.
CSN continued to battle and chipped away in the fourth inning. Justice Lavin singled to start the rally, and Sierra Dennison entered as a pinch runner. After advancing on a sacrifice bunt from Mariela Rodriguez, Dennison scored on a base hit and throwing sequence that included Reggi Frei stealing second, trimming the deficit to 6–2.
The Lady Coyotes added another run in the fifth inning. Tepraseuth reached and moved into scoring position before Ellie Leatham doubled. Ciana Cubi followed with an RBI groundout to score Tepraseuth and make it 6–3.
CSN finished with eight hits in the contest. Chun led the offense with two hits and a run scored, while Tepraseuth added two hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Leatham recorded a double, and Cubi drove in a run. Lavin, Mariela Rodriguez, and Frei each contributed hits as the Coyotes produced opportunities throughout the game.
In the circle, Haley Horst went the distance, allowing six runs (four earned) on 12 hits over seven innings.
Eastern Arizona finished with 12 hits and six runs, while CSN totaled eight hits in the loss.
With the loss, the Lady Coyotes move to 21–12 overall and 10–3 in ACCAC play.
The four-game ACCAC series continues later Friday afternoon at Lady Coyote Field with game two of the doubleheader.
