HENDERSON, Nev. — March 28, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada battled back late but ultimately fell 12–9 to Eastern Arizona College in the finale of the four-game ACCAC series Saturday afternoon at Lady Coyote Field.

Eastern Arizona struck first in the opening inning. Jessica Szelenyi doubled to lead off the game and later scored on an RBI single from Vanessa Gavigan to give the Gila Monsters a 1–0 lead.

The Lady Coyotes answered in the bottom half of the inning. Breya Hee reached base and advanced before Ellie Leatham drove in the tying run with a groundout, evening the score at 1–1.

Eastern Arizona took control in the third inning, plating three runs on a series of hits to move ahead 4–1.

CSN chipped away in the fourth inning. Athena Tonga'onevai singled and later scored when Miken Jacobsen doubled and advanced the rally. Mariela Rodriguez followed with a sacrifice to bring Jacobsen home, trimming the deficit to 4–2.

The Lady Coyotes added another run in the fifth inning. Reggi Frei singled and later scored on an RBI double from Tonga'onevai, cutting the lead to 4–3.

Eastern Arizona broke the game open in the sixth inning with five runs on five hits, highlighted by a bases-clearing hit from Gavigan that extended the lead to 9–3.

CSN responded in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run rally. Jacobsen drew a walk and scored on an error, Breya Hee followed with an RBI double, and Frei added an RBI single to bring the Lady Coyotes within 9–6.

The Gila Monsters added three more runs in the seventh inning, including a solo home run from Gabriella Bonilla and two additional RBI hits, stretching the lead to 12–6.

The Lady Coyotes mounted one final push in the bottom of the seventh. Hee delivered another RBI double, and Frei reached on an error that allowed two runs to score, but CSN was unable to complete the comeback.

CSN finished with 11 hits in the contest. Hee led the offense with three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs. Frei added two hits and two RBIs, while Chloe Tepraseuth recorded two hits and an RBI. Jacobsen collected two hits and scored twice, and Tonga'onevai added two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.

In the circle, Brooklynn Richardson started and took the loss, allowing nine runs over 5.2 innings. Nicole Carrasco entered in relief and allowed three runs over the final 1.1 innings.

Eastern Arizona totaled 17 hits and 12 runs, while CSN recorded 11 hits in the loss.

With the result, the Lady Coyotes move to 22–14 overall and 11–5 in ACCAC play.

CSN will have a bye next weekend before returning to ACCAC action April 10 at Lady Coyote Field for a four-game series against Central Arizona College.
