COOLIDGE, Ariz. — March 6, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada opened ACCAC play in dominant fashion Friday afternoon, rolling to a 14–1 victory over Central Arizona College in five innings in game one of the four-game series.
The Lady Coyotes broke through in the second inning to take control early. Ellie Leatham led off the frame with a solo home run to put CSN in front 1–0. Later in the inning, Mattingly Mauzey worked a walk and advanced into scoring position before Jimena Barraza-Caro brought her home on a groundout to make it 2–0.
CSN then put the game away with an explosive third inning, sending 16 batters to the plate and scoring 11 runs on nine hits. Jaydah Chun started the rally with a single and came around to score on an RBI double by Chloe Tepraseuth. Destinee Lopez followed with a single, and after Mariela Rodriguez entered as the designated player, Rodriguez stole second before Leatham drove in another run with a single.
The inning kept rolling from there. Ciana Cubi brought home a run on a fielder's choice, and Mauzey reached on an error that allowed another run to score. Haley Horst then delivered a two-run single, pushing the lead to 8–0. After another Central Arizona error allowed Barraza-Caro to score, Tepraseuth capped the inning with a three-run home run, stretching the advantage to 12–0. Mauzey later added another RBI single before the inning finally came to a close with the Lady Coyotes holding a commanding 13–0 lead.
Central Arizona broke up the shutout in the bottom of the fourth, using a double and two singles to plate its lone run of the game. CSN answered in the fifth when Tepraseuth doubled and later scored on an outfield error, extending the lead to 14–1.
In the circle, Haylee Holloway earned the win, going all five innings and allowing one run on five hits while striking out four and walking one. She kept Central Arizona off balance throughout the afternoon and closed the door with a scoreless fifth inning.
Offensively, the Lady Coyotes pounded out 14 hits. Tepraseuth led the way with a 3-for-4 performance, including two doubles, a home run and four RBIs. Leatham finished with two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs. Chun collected three hits and scored twice, while Mauzey added two hits and an RBI. Horst came through with a key two-run single off the bench, and Benson contributed two hits and an RBI in the victory.
With the win, the Lady Coyotes improved to 12–9 overall and 1–0 in ACCAC play.
CSN and Central Arizona will continue the four-game series with game two later Friday, before the teams return to Coolidge for a doubleheader Saturday.
