HENDERSON, Nev. — April 25, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada battled back to tie the game late but could not hold off Yavapai College, falling 7–5 in game three of the four-game ACCAC series Saturday morning at Lady Coyote Field.
Yavapai opened the scoring in the second inning when Tamryn Tucker launched a solo home run to left field, giving the Roughriders a 1–0 lead.
The Lady Coyotes answered in the third inning. Mariela Rodriguez doubled to lead off the frame, and Breya Hee followed with a bunt single to put runners on the corners. Jimena Barraza-Caro then delivered a bunt single to score Rodriguez and tie the game at 1–1.
Both teams remained quiet until the fifth inning, when Yavapai broke through with a four-run rally. The Roughriders capitalized on a mix of hits and defensive miscues to take a 5–1 lead.
CSN responded immediately in the bottom half of the fifth with a four-run inning of its own. Hee singled to start the rally, and Barraza-Caro followed with another hit. Chloe Tepraseuth delivered a two-run single to cut into the deficit, and after reaching base, Ellie Leatham came around to score. Mattingly Mauzey added a sacrifice fly, and Destinee Lopez drove in a run with a single to even the game at 5–5.
After a scoreless sixth inning, Yavapai regained the lead in the seventh. With two runners on, Tucker delivered a two-run double to left center, putting the Roughriders back in front 7–5.
The Lady Coyotes threatened in the bottom of the seventh. Tepraseuth singled and Sierra Dennison entered as a pinch runner, advancing into scoring position, but CSN was unable to push a run across as Yavapai secured the win.
CSN finished with 10 hits in the contest. Tepraseuth led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Barraza-Caro added two hits and an RBI. Hee contributed two hits and scored a run, and Rodriguez added a double as part of the Coyotes' offensive effort.
In the circle, Brooklynn Richardson went the distance and took the loss, allowing seven runs (four earned) on nine hits over seven innings.
Yavapai recorded seven runs on nine hits, including the decisive late extra-base hit in the seventh inning.
With the loss, the Lady Coyotes move to 29–18 overall and 18–9 in ACCAC play.
The four-game ACCAC series will conclude later Saturday afternoon at Lady Coyote Field.
