THATCHER, Ariz. — May 1, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada built an early lead but could not hold off a late push from Eastern Arizona College, falling 5–4 in the opening game of a four-game ACCAC series Friday afternoon.
The Lady Coyotes came out strong, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Breya Hee led off with a single and later scored, while Reggi Frei also came around to cross the plate to give CSN an early 2–0 advantage.
CSN added to the lead in the third inning. Hee collected another hit to spark the offense, and Destinee Lopez delivered an RBI single to extend the lead to 3–0.
The Lady Coyotes pushed the advantage to 4–0 in the fifth inning when Ellie Leatham connected on a solo home run, providing additional cushion midway through the game.
Eastern Arizona responded in the fourth inning, breaking through with three runs on a series of extra-base hits and sacrifice flies to cut the deficit to 4–3.
The Gila Monsters tied the game in the fifth inning and completed the comeback in the seventh. After collecting multiple hits to put runners in scoring position, Eastern Arizona plated the go-ahead run on a late-inning rally to secure the 5–4 victory.
CSN finished with nine hits in the contest. Hee led the offense with three hits and a run scored, while Lopez added two hits and drove in three runs. Leatham contributed the solo home run, and Ciana Cubi and Payten Benson each recorded hits in the effort.
In the circle, Haylee Holloway started and allowed three runs over 3.1 innings. Brooklynn Richardson took the loss in relief after allowing two runs over the final 2.2 innings.
Eastern Arizona totaled 12 hits, with multiple players contributing in the late comeback effort.
The four-game ACCAC series continues later Friday with game two of the doubleheader.
