Dan Savage enters his fifth season as Head Coach of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Women’s Basketball program and also serves as the Assistant Athletic Director. With over 30 years of coaching experience, Savage brings unmatched energy, leadership, and culture-building to the Coyotes.
Over the past two seasons, CSN has posted an impressive 47-15 record, breaking multiple program records and advancing several student-athletes to NCAA Division I and II programs. Known for developing tough, unified teams, Coach Savage has established a belief-driven philosophy that has become the identity of CSN Women’s Basketball.
A native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Savage was a team captain at Becker College, where he earned a degree in Sports Administration. He has since added two more degrees, including a Master of Education from Ashford University, completed in 2017.
Savage launched his coaching career at his alma mater, Bourne High School, where he amassed 101 wins over seven seasons. He later transitioned to the semi-professional ranks, serving as an assistant coach under Joe “Jellybean” Bryant with the Las Vegas Rattlers of the American Basketball Association—a pivotal experience that helped shape his coaching trajectory. Over the years, he has coached numerous elite talents from top Division I programs such as North Carolina, Virginia, UNLV, Boston College, and Michigan.
Prior to CSN, Savage led a remarkable rebuild at Bonanza High School in Las Vegas, transforming a women’s basketball program that hadn’t won a game in 18 months into a playoff contender within two seasons. His efforts earned him back-to-back Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2012 and 2013.
Basketball is a family affair for the Savages. His daughter Brooklyn is entering her third season as CSN’s assistant coach and social media director, while his son Trent is in his second year as a volunteer assistant coach. Dan and his wife, Julie, married for 29 years, are the proud foundation of a basketball family that leads with love, discipline, and legacy.
