Las Vegas, NV- The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes won last week's series against the Utah State University Eastern Golden Eagles and are still in first place in the SWAC Conference. This week's matchup for the Coyotes is against the Salt Lake Community College Bruins. The Bruins had a great weekend, where they swept the Western Nevada College Wildcats and moved into second place in the SWAC. With both teams playing their best baseball of the season, each game of the series should be a good one.Â
Â
Earlier in the year, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Coyotes and the Bruins split the four game series. Future first round draft pick in the upcoming MLB draft, Phil Bickford, pitched a brilliant game against the SLCC Bruins, throwing five innings, allowing one unearned run, and striking out 12 batters. Last week during Bickford's outing the Coyotes threw a combined no-hitter, but ended up losing the game. Besides the one game the Coyotes lost, their hitters had a good series. The Coyotes' hitters have gotten past their early struggles at the plate, and are starting to catch fire at the right time of the season. Phil Bickford and the rest of the Coyotes will look to continue their success and shut down the Bruins in this week's series. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm this Thursday, with a double header starting at 2:00 pm on Friday, and the final game scheduled for 11:00 pm on Saturday.Â
