HENDERSON, Nev. — College of Southern Nevada head baseball coach Nick Aiello has completed his coaching staff, adding Antonio Rainone, Nick Rush, Tate Gambill and Jesse Orosco to the Coyote baseball program.
The four assistants bring a combination of collegiate and high school coaching experience, familiarity with Aiello's approach to player development and strong ties to baseball in Nevada and throughout the region. Together, the group will oversee all areas of the CSN program, including hitting, pitching, defense, baserunning and recruiting.
Rainone joins the Coyotes after previously spending five seasons alongside Aiello at the College of Southern Idaho. At CSN, Rainone will work with the Coyotes' infielders and hitters while also serving as the team's third-base coach.
"Antonio Rainone is someone I know and trust, both as a coach and as a person," Aiello said. "We spent five years coaching together at CSI, and during that time I saw firsthand the impact he can have on players and a program. Antonio brings tremendous knowledge of the game, especially when it comes to developing infielders and hitters, but what I value most is the way he connects with players and holds them accountable.
"He understands the type of culture we want to build and the standard we expect every day. Antonio will work with our infielders and hitters and coach third base, and I couldn't be more excited to have him on our staff."
Rush comes to CSN following four years at UNLV and will take on several key responsibilities for the Coyotes. He will work directly with CSN's catchers, serve as the first-base coach and coordinate the program's recruiting efforts.
"Nick Rush is a tremendous addition to our staff and brings valuable experience from his four years at UNLV," Aiello said. "He understands what it takes to recruit and develop players at a high level, and I believe his energy and ability to build relationships will be a huge asset to our program.
"Nick will work directly with our catchers, coach first base and serve as our recruiting coordinator. Recruiting is the lifeblood of any successful college baseball program, and I have complete confidence in Nick's ability to identify players who fit what we are building here at CSN, both on the field and in our culture. We're excited to have him as part of our staff."
Gambill begins his coaching career with familiarity with both Aiello and the expectations of a successful junior college baseball program. Gambill previously played for Aiello at the College of Southern Idaho before continuing his collegiate career at BYU.
With the Coyotes, Gambill will oversee the outfield, serve as the program's baserunning coordinator and assist with the hitters.
"Tate Gambill is a guy I'm really excited to have on our staff because I've had the opportunity to see his development firsthand," Aiello said. "Tate played for us at CSI before continuing his career at BYU, where he gained two more years of experience at a high level. He understands what we expect from our players, how we want the game played and the type of culture we're building.
"Tate will coach our outfielders, serve as our baserunning coordinator and assist with our hitters. His energy, competitiveness and ability to relate to players will make him a tremendous asset to our program. I'm excited to watch him take that same passion he had as a player and bring it into coaching."
Orosco joins the CSN staff after coaching at Green Valley High School in Henderson. He will work alongside Aiello with the Coyotes' pitching staff, assisting with the development and day-to-day instruction of CSN's pitchers.
"Jesse Orosco is a great addition to our staff and someone who brings valuable coaching experience from his time at Green Valley High School," Aiello said. "Jesse has a strong understanding of pitching and, more importantly, knows how to communicate and connect with players.
"He will work alongside me with our pitching staff and play an important role in the development of our arms. I'm excited about the knowledge, energy and perspective Jesse brings to our program, and I believe he will have a tremendous impact on our pitchers both on and off the field."
The completed staff represents the next step for CSN Baseball under Aiello, bringing together coaches with experience at multiple levels of the game and clearly defined responsibilities throughout the program.
Rainone's previous experience working alongside Aiello provides continuity in the program's approach to instruction and player development, while Rush will take a leading role in identifying and recruiting future Coyotes. Gambill brings recent experience as a collegiate player and familiarity with Aiello's expectations, and Orosco adds local coaching experience while helping oversee the pitching staff.
With the staff now in place, Aiello and the Coyotes turn their attention toward preparing for the upcoming season and continuing to build the next chapter of CSN Baseball.
