Las Vegas, NV- The Coyotes enter the week in first place in the SWAC Conference and on a hot streak, winning six of their last eight games. This weekend's matchup for the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes will be against the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans, who will be looking to get out of last place in the SWAC Conference. It won't be an easy assignment for the Spartans, who have a losing record on the road this season, at 5-9, while the Coyotes have a 15-3 home record. These two teams faced off earlier in the season: in the SWAC Round Robin Tournament hosted by the Coyotes, where they defeated the Spartans 14 to 2, and in a four game series in Rangely, Colorado, where they split the series at two games a piece.
Â
The first game of the series is tonight at 7:00 pm at Morse Stadium in Henderson, Nevada. Starting pitcher Anthony Martine will start game #1 and have the first opportunity to put a win on the board for the Coyotes. CSN's ace of the pitching staff and potential top 10 draft pick in this year's upcoming MLB draft, Phil Bickford, will take the mound for for the first game of the double header on Friday at 2:00 pm. Bickford had his worst outing of the season against the Spartans earlier in the year, and will look to redeem himself with a stellar performance. The second game of the double header on Friday will have Gabe Gonzalez getting the start, attempting to earn his 5
th win of the year. The final game of the series is scheduled for Saturday April 4
th, with first pitch at noon. Aj Jones will try to out perform his last week's 7 inning, 1 run victory. Offensively for the Coyotes, starting second baseman Tyler Brown had tremendous success against the Spartans early in the year, batting .474, with 4 RBIs, 6 runs and 1 steal during the five game stretch, and will look to continue this trend.
