Las Vegas, NV- The weather is starting to heat up, and so is the the baseball regular season for the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes. With only two series' left until the playoffs begin for the SWAC Conference, the Coyotes are in first place with a four game lead over the second place team. The CSN Coyotes can clinch first place in the SWAC with a sweep of the second place team, CSI Golden Eagles, this weekend. Last week, the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes defeated the Salt Lake Community College Bruins in all four games. The College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles have been playing great as well, winning three straight series', and nine of their last 12 games. If the Golden Eagles want to have home field advantage in the playoffs, they will need to win the upcoming affair, if not sweep all four games against the Coyotes.Â
Â
The Coyotes have dominated the previous match ups against the Golden Eagles, winning four out of five of the games. The ace of the Coyotes' pitching staff, Phil Bickford, has pitched 12 innings against the CSI Golden Eagles, allowing only two unearned runs, while striking out 22 batters. The Coyotes' clutch hitting came alive last week, with two walk off hits, helping sweep the entire series. If Bickford and the rest of the Coyotes' can dominate the series with their shutdown pitching staff and their timely hitting, their pre-season goal of winning the SWAC should come true.
