Box Score By
Devin VirissimoIn the second game of the double header, it was the
Gabe Gonzalez show.
Gonzalez was dialed in from the moment he stepped on the mound. He retired each batter in order until he walked a man with two outs in the fourth; only to strike out the next batter.
In the 5
th and after two outs once again, Gabe came in to a little trouble when he walked two batters in a row; only to strike out the next batter. The 6
th was a breeze for Gabe as went strikeout looking, ground out, and then strikeout swinging.
In the 7
th Gabe hit the first batter up, got the next one to fly out, and then walked the next one. At that point, Coach Garitano felt as though Gabe did his job and went to the bullpen for
Ben Cutting. Gonzalez left the game and the no-hitter to Cutting who held on to the no-no until a two-out single in the 8
th.
Cutting would strike-out 6 of the final 8 Bruin outs.
The Coyotes would also extend their 2-run lead they got in the 2
nd with a 2-run homer by
Brody Westmoreland, followed by an RBI triple by
Jarrett Perns in the 7
th, and then five more runs in the 8
th as they go on to win 9-2.
The Coyotes will take on the Bruins during another double header tomorrow at Morse Stadium on the Henderson Campus.
