Henderson, NV – Lied Field at Morse Stadium was the host once again for the final tournament before conference play begins.
Todd Danzeisen was set to be the star for the opening game against Prairie Baseball Academy and he commanded the spotlight during each inning.
Danzeisen only allowed one hit in his first two innings while the offense gave him a commanding lead.
In the bottom of the first, the Coyotes stuck early with an RBI double from
Justin Lutes that plated
Christian Maggi.
In the bottom of the second, the bats came to life as
Kaid Urban lead off with a single. Two quick outs followed until
Dillon Johnson was hit by a full count pitch, then a walk from Maggi followed by the 20
th walk of the season by Lutes to score Urban and load the bases for the designated hitter
Jason Wallace.
Wallace singled to right to bring home Johnson and Maggi.
Jay Martz would bat next and send a shot through the left side, plating Lutes.
CSN would end the inning up 5-0.
Danzeisen would induce numerous ground balls to allow his defense to collect the necessary outs to keep the hot Coyote bats going despite allowing a run in the third and the fourth.
Those would be the only blemishes on the lefty's record as he cruised through fifth, sixth and seventh; striking out 4 and only walking 1.
Maggi would get on due to an error to lead off the 4
th, only to steal second and third before Wallace could record his third RBI and extend the Coyote lead 6-2.
The bats stayed alive as Maggi lead off the 6
th with a single.
Lutes would follow with his 21
st walk of the season.
Martz would step to the dish with both of them on and double to bring them home.
Urban would then reward him with a RBI single.
With the run rule looming in the bottom of the seventh, Macias lead off with a walk. Maggi would single and Lutes would walk for the 22
nd time in the 17 games.
Coming through in the clutch once again would be Wallace as he singled up the middle to bring Macias home and give a much deserved win to Danzeisen and the Coyotes.
CSN will face Prairie Baseball Academy tomorrow, 02/23, at 6 p.m. for the second game of the Coyotes Slugout.
