Henderson, NV – The 20
th ranked Coyotes welcomed the Spartans of Colorado Northwestern Community College to Lied Field as Morse Stadium for a weekend series nearing the homestretch of conference play.
Todd Danzeisen took the hill and ran into some early trouble that has plagued him in the past.
He gave up two runs in the first inning but was able to dial it back in and find a rhythm throughout the rest of his start.
The Coyotes could not find their rhythm as the Spartan pitcher from Basic High School held them lifeless and hitless until the fourth inning when
Jason Wallace singled with one out.
Danzeisen allowed a hit or a baserunner in each inning but would not allow another run before he was pulled in the sixth inning with one out.
Danzeisen allowed six hits, two runs, and walked three while striking out three.
Alex Tisminezky took the hill and collected the final two out to give the Coyotes a chance to even the score in the bottom of the sixth.
Three straight singles from
Justin Lutes, Wallace and
Dillon Johnson loaded the bases.
With one out, Coach Garritano called upon
Joey O'Brien to provide another clutch hit. O'Brien singled through the right side to plate the Coyotes first two runs to tie the game.
???????Tisminesky pitched 1.2 innings while not allowing a hit, walking three and striking out one.
Blake Inouye was then brought in and allowed only one hit while walking two and striking out three.
Originally scheduled to be a seven inning contest, the game continued all the way until the bottom of the eleventh when O'Brien led off with a walk.
Coach Garritano went to the bench again and called upon
Cody Milner to move O'Brien into scoring position.
After missing the first bunt attempt, Milner slapped a shot into right field sending O'Brien to third.
Jordan Macias stepped up the plate and sent a towering shot to left field creating a tag and go situation for O'Brien.
The bang-bang play went the way of the Coyotes as O'Brien slid underneath the tag and gave the Coyotes the 3-2 win.
