Fresh off the team's first conference victory of the season over the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans, Southern Nevada looked to keep the momentum going at home ,as they welcomed the #7 Snow College Badgers into the "Den" for a Scenic West Conference showdown.
Southern Nevada had competed favorably with the top of the conference despite not claiming a match victory versus a ranked opponent in 2018, and Saturday afternoon was no different. The opening set was an extremely competitive affair that saw multiple lead changes as the Badgers edged out the Coyotes (20-25) to gain the advantage. Set two was a carbon copy of the opener, with the Lady Coyotes having their chances to claim the set, however they fell short (21-25) putting themselves behind the eight ball versus the seventh ranked team in the NJCAA.
This resilient group bounced back like a super ball in set three, winning the battles at the net and cutting the Badgers lead in half with an impressive (25-22) victory in set three. Set four was an all-out war between both sides that unfortunately saw Snow College edge out Southern Nevada (23-25) to claim the match three sets to one (20-25, 21-25, 25-22, 23-25).
Match standouts for the Lady Coyotes included
Abbey Archambault with a team high 17 kills,
Kaylee Wilcox (35 assists),
Lexi Riggs and
Illiana Ortega with 15 digs apiece.
Fans your Lady Coyotes will be at the "Den" for the final two home matches of the season Thursday October 18
th versus #3 Salt Lake Community College Bruins and Saturday October 20
th against the #7 College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles.
