After dropping Western Wyoming Community College in the season opener Southern Nevada set its sights on a home match versus Heat FC before testing itself on the road for the first time against the Victor Valley Rams in California on Sunday.
Heat FC got out the starting gates fast on Saturday night, scoring the first goal of the match just 21 minutes into the contest. The Heat were able to limit the Lady Coyotes scoring opportunities in the opening half of play with some strong defense that limited CSN to one shot on goal as they took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Southern Nevada made the necessary adjustments at intermission and knotted the match up just five minutes into the second half when
Brooke Haley found the back of the net with an assist from
Lianna Soifua. Soifua found her second point of the match and first goal in the 79
th minute thanks to a perfect feed off the foot of
Olivia Meza to put the Lady Coyotes ahead 2-1. Just 67 seconds later,
Brianna Duran put the dagger into the Heat after drilling Southern Nevada's third goal of the match off a great ball from Sara Marie Covarrubi. Heat FC scored in the 85
th minute to get within a goal, however the Lady Coyotes were able to hold on for a 3-2 victory that took them to 2-0 on the season.
With a pair of home victories in the rearview mirror it was time for the Lady Coyotes to prepare for its first road test of the 2018 season with the Victor Valley College Rams. Southern Nevada blitzed Victor Valley from the opening whistle, scoring four goals in the opening 35 minutes of the match to take a commanding 4-0 lead into the break.

Ashlee Jordan and Donna Acierto tallied the goals while
Olivia Meza,
Brooke Haley,
Kayla Steiner and Sara Marie Covarrubi notched the assists.
The offensive onslaught continued in the the second half to the tune of five goals as the Lady Coyotes rolled the Rams 9-1 in an impressive 2018 road debut.
