Lady Coyote Softball Host Snow College Badgers | Four Game Series Begins Friday

HENDERSON, Nev. (April 10, 2019) – Fresh off another road trip, the College of Southern Nevada softball team is excited to be hosting games at home this weekend.

The Lady Coyotes will host the Snow College Badgers in a four-game series this weekend, hoping to gain some momentum while breaking out of a seven-game losing streak. After earning a win in the series opener against league-leading Salt Lake a week ago, CSN's record has fallen to 8-23 overall and just 6-14 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.

The recent swoon has concerned several but Southern Nevada coach Ashley Johnston said her team is still competing well.

"The softball team is going to continue to work on fundamentals and improve on the game," she said. "By acknowledging where we have fallen short, this will allow us to put focus on those areas this week to eliminate the mental mistakes made during our games."

CSN and Snow have yet to face each other this season, thanks to a four-game series in March being canceled due to weather. The Badgers are in third place in the league standings with a record of 12-8 in the Scenic West, compared to Southern Nevada's 6-14. Statistically, the matchup should showcase plenty of offense as Snow has a .340 batting average and CSN has a .320 average.

Johnston said this weekend will be a unique proposition since the two teams have yet to face each other.

"We are going into the weekend with an open mind since we have not faced Snow College this season," she said. "We need to continue to focus on our pitching to improve on the mound."

Salt Lake Community College continues to sit atop the Scenic West with just four weeks remaining in the regular season, holding a record of 20-4 in league play. Southern Idaho is two games behind the Bruins at 18-6.

The four-game series between Southern Nevada and Snow College is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Lady Coyotes Softball Field. Saturday's game will start at 12:00 p.m. Live stats for the series will be streamed at csncoyotes.com.
