Lady Coyote Volleyball Invitational Welcomes Top Junior College Programs To The Desert

Lady Coyote Volleyball Invitational Presented By: The East Side Cannery Hotel & Casino

HENDERSON, Nev. (September 11, 2019) – The College of Southern Nevada volleyball team will host some of the nation's top programs in a star-studded preseason tournament this weekend at the CSN Sports Center in North Las Vegas.

The Lady Coyotes will host No 1 Seward County Community College, No. 4 Miami-Dade College and No. 8 Salt Lake Community College, among many others in the tourney. Individually, CSN will play a trio of matches spread over Thursday and Saturday in the tourney, coming off two losses in Arizona last weekend.

CSN coach Chris Vergnaud said his team is looking to recover after the tough road trip.

"Losing a tough five-set match on the road is never easy; however, I am proud of our girls for showing their grit and toughness while on the road," he said. "As a young team we are still learning what it takes to be all in and to have a complete contribution from every person on the team. This past weekend showed me that we are moving in the right direction and that we grew together as a team."

Southern Nevada will play two matches on Thursday, playing Central Wyoming College at 3:00 p.m. and Arizona Western College at 7:00 p.m. later that evening. Additionally, the Lady Coyotes will play host to Parkland College at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Vergnaud said his team is prepared for the challenge ahead this weekend.

"This weekend is full of nationally ranked teams," he said. "I am excited to welcome the field of competition to Las Vegas and am looking forward to hosting some of the best volleyball action in the nation. Having some of the best teams in the nation in our gym will give our young group an opportunity to see what nationally-ranked talent looks like. I think it will motivate our group to continue working hard and pushing our program forward."

After this weekend's action, the Lady Coyotes are scheduled for a break until the start of Scenic West play on Sept. 28 against Snow College. CSN will host three consecutive home matches  to open Scenic West action.
