HENDERSON, Nev. (September 13, 2019) – An up-and-down day saw the College of Southern Nevada volleyball team finish with a record of 0-2 to open a home-hosted tournament.
Hosting several of the nation's best volleyball programs, the Lady Coyotes fell to Central Wyoming, 3-1 (29-27, 23-25, 20-25, 15-25), and Arizona Western, 3-0 (16-25, 15-25, 13-25). The losses drop CSN's overall record to 4-9 on the season.
Southern Nevada will host a full day of matches at the CSN Sports Center on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Coyotes will play their next match on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. against Parkland College.
Central Wyoming 3, Southern Nevada 1: A hot start for the Lady Coyotes ended in disappointment Thursday.
CSN captured a stunning 29-27 win in the first set, earning the win on a Tyler Fuller kill that gave Southern Nevada an advantage. However, Central Wyoming responded to claim a second set that saw the Lady Coyotes tie the score at 23-23.
Fuller ended the match with a team-high 12 kills.
Olivia Curtis contributed 10 kills for Southern Nevada.
Arizona Western 3, Southern Nevada 0: Arizona Western picked up a controlling win in the evening's final match.
Thanks to 14 aces and 35 kills, AWC earned the set-sweep. Southern Nevada's Fuller had 6 kills to lead the team.
Sierra Sullivan led the Lady Coyotes with 15 digs.
