Lady Coyote Volleyball Opens SWAC Play vs #6 Snow College Saturday

HENDERSON, Nev. (September 25, 2019) – After a bye week, the College of Southern Nevada volleyball team will return to the hardwood of the CSN Sports Center to begin Scenic West Athletic Conference volleyball action this week.

The Lady Coyotes will open Scenic West play on Saturday with a match against No. 6 Snow College, opening a conference schedule that will take CSN all the way to the start of November. CSN finished the non-conference schedule with a mark of 4-10, currently holding a four-game losing streak.

CSN coach Chris Vergnaud said his team is excited to begin league play after a break.

"After taking some much-needed time to rest, we are preparing for our conference opener against Snow College this weekend," he said. "Preseason taught this young group a lot about themselves. I think they have a better understanding now what it means to play every point and be mentally invested in every set."

Snow College is the highest-ranked team in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, with a 19-2 overall record and several wins over nationally-ranked opponents. The Badgers are on an eight-match winning streak.

Vergnaud said his team is prepared for facing an opponent of Snow's caliber, in spite of their preseason that featured growing pains.

"I do not think our preseason record defines this young squad," he said. "I believe our team is motivated and determined, and will use the lessons we learned in preseason to compete at a high level this conference season.

Saturday's match against Snow College is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
