Two Big Road Matches For Lady Coyotes Soccer This Week

HENDERSON, Nev. (September 25, 2019) – After an up-and-down week to start Scenic West Athletic Conference play, the College of Southern Nevada women's soccer team will take to the road for two critical Scenic West matches.

After earning a win over in-state rival Truckee Meadows and falling to No. 5 Salt Lake Community College, the Lady Coyotes will travel to play USU Eastern and then Colorado Northwestern Community College this upcoming weekend. The USU Eastern match is scheduled for Thursday, with the CNCC match scheduled for Saturday.

CSN coach Geoff Hawkins said his team is ready to rebound after falling to the No. 5 SLCC Bruins on Saturday.

"We had great moments of success on the field but injuries are playing a factor against teams with depth," he said.

This weekend's opponents will provide another firm test for the Lady Coyotes. USU Eastern is 7-1 to start the season and is off to a 2-1 start in Scenic West play, with an overtime win over Truckee Meadows Community College and a dominant 11-0 win over Colorado Northwestern. The Eagles opened the SWAC season with a 3-1 loss to No. 5 Salt Lake. Colorado Northwestern is 0-4 to start the season.

Hawkins said this week's matches will provide his team with a great opportunity to improve upon skills gained in practice.

"Our team is looking forward to playing two great in-conference opponents," he said. "USU Eastern is the best I have seen them since we started the conference."

Southern Nevada will play at USU Eastern on Thursday, with a scheduled start time of 2:00 p.m. The Lady Coyotes' match with Colorado Northwestern is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
