HENDERSON, Nev. (September 3, 2019) – Sitting undefeated and ranked #8 by the NJCAA two weeks into the season, the College of Southern Nevada men's soccer team is in prime position to continue to improve.

After all, the Coyotes have played a mix of regionally successful programs and have won in a variety of different ways. However, as the team prepares for its final two non-conference opponents before opening play in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, CSN is focused on reaching an entirely new level.

"Our wins last weekend showcased that we have a deep and talented team that has the ability to change tactics in the middle of a match," he said.

After scoring 10 goals in opening weekend action in Arizona, Southern Nevada posted just 4 goals in a home tournament at Heritage Park in Henderson, including a back-and-forth extra periods victory. The need to score goals will come into play throughout this week as the Coyotes welcome in Yavapai College on Tuesday and Western Wyoming Community College on Friday.

Hawkins said both teams will provide different styles of play to test Southern Nevada.

"Yavapai College is a perennial power house and will give us the toughest challenge thus far in the season," he said. "Western Wyoming has a fantastic coach who always has a few tricks up his sleeves."

Yavapai has started the season strongly, earned a 12-0 win over South Mountain Community College to open the season and going undefeated since. Western Wyoming opened the season 0-2 and is hoping to get on track after a rough start that included a loss to Scenic West member Colorado Northwestern.

Tuesday's match against Yavapai College is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start, with Friday's match starting at 3:00 p.m. The Coyotes will open Scenic West play on Sept. 12 against Snow College
