HENDERSON, Nev. (September 3, 2019) – The No. 8 College of Southern Nevada men's soccer team ran into a figurative buzz-saw on Tuesday at Heritage Park in Henderson.
Fresh off earning a Top-10 national ranking, the Coyotes were looking to bolster their momentum with an impressive victory over No. 10 Yavapai College. Instead, CSN was downed by Yavapai, 5-1. The loss drops Southern Nevada's overall record to 4-1.
Yavapai came out hot, taking a 2-0 lead after the first thirty minutes and stretched the lead all the way to 4-0 at halftime. YC would bolster the lead to 5-0 until Southern Nevada's
Jesus Gonzalez earned a goal on a penalty kick with 67:56 on the clock.
In spite of the loss, Southern Nevada actually out-performed Yavapai by finishing with a 20-13 edge in shots and an 11-5 advantage in the second half. Gonzalez took a team-high 5 shots.
Southern Nevada will host Western Wyoming Community College on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Park. CSN will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play with Snow College on Sept. 12.
