Lady Coyote Soccer Plays Host To Western Wyoming & Otero JC This Weekend

| By:

HENDERSON, Nev. (September 5, 2019) – The College of Southern Nevada women's soccer team is full of momentum, thanks to a 4-0 start on the season.

The Lady Coyotes have shown the ability to be able to play in a complete fashion, mixing offensive success with back-end defense and strong goalkeeping to earn victories over several regionally-successful programs. Now as the program pushes forward into its final weekend of preseason play with two more matches, CSN is focused on maintaining that momentum.

Southern Nevada coach Geoff Hawkins said wins over Sheridan and Arizona Western last weekend helped continue a quality tone this preseason.

"Last weekend's wins told me our team has a strong will to win and their effort in our matches has been the difference," he said.

CSN will host Western Wyoming Community College and Otero Junior College this weekend, playing matches on Friday and Saturday at Heritage Park. Western Wyoming opened the season with a 7-0 victory over Scenic West Athletic Conference member Colorado Northwestern Community College and has played a mix of regional competition. Otero most recently played a tournament in Iowa.

Hawkins said both visiting programs will provide a good mix of challenges for the up-and-coming Lady Coyotes.

"Both Western Wyoming and Otero bring in teams with great size and athleticism," he said. "We must play our team defense to prevent unfavorable matchups."

Friday's match against Western Wyoming will be played at 5:00 p.m. at Heritage Park in Henderson, with Saturday's match scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start. CSN will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Sept. 12 at home against Snow College.
