HENDERSON, Nev. (February 7, 2020) – The No. 12 College of Southern Nevada baseball team will continue forward with the preseason this weekend, traveling to play in a nationally-renowned tournament in Arizona.

The Coyotes will play in a four-game tournament in Phoenix, facing off against some of the top programs in the NJCAA. Scheduled opponents will again include No. 1 Central Arizona, with games also scheduled against Yavapai College and Gateway Community College.

After going 2-2 in last weekend's home tourney, CSN coach Nick Garritano said his team is eager to get back on the field.

"Anytime you play four games in a weekend, your goal is to win the series," he said. "We didn't do that this past weekend. We showed signs of improvement as the weekend went on and some of the key pieces to the puzzle are starting to settle in a bit."

Southern Nevada fell 7-0 to Central Arizona in last week's tourney in Henderson, while earning a 10-2 win over Gateway Community College. Yavapai is also nationally-ranked.

Garritano said this weekend's tournament action will provide more strong tests for his team.

"This weekend doesn't get any easier for us," he said. "We open up with arguably the best offense in Region 1 in Yavapai, followed up by playing Gateway and Central Arizona again. We schedule the toughest we can early on, as it's the only way to get better."

Southern Nevada will face Yavapai College on Friday at 6:00 p.m., followed up by games with Gateway and Central Arizona on Saturday. CSN's Sunday opponent will be decided at a later date.
