CSN Baseball ranked as preseason favorite in noted national polls

| By:
HENDERSON, Nev. (January 25, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada will enter the 2021 season with a proverbial target on their backs thanks to a strong wave of national acclaim.

The Coyotes have been ranked as the Preseason No. 1 team in the NJCAA, according to organizations such as PerfectGame.org and the JuCo Baseball Blog. The preseason ranking is due to the noted talent that is on the roster, a mixture of highly-touted recruits and strong returners who gained additional eligibility due to the NJCAA's COVID-19 eligibility rulings.

"We truly feel honored earning some of these preseason accolades," said CSN coach Nick Garritano. "It's a tribute to how well our kids performed in our 'Pro Day' put on by PBR in front of 65 Major League Baseball scouts. It's a tribute to our assistant coaches recruiting efforts, and it's a tribute to the storied history of our program."

After a long offseason, due to the 2020 season ending prematurely, the Coyotes will open the 2021 season this weekend at home, hosting several programs in the 'Manny Guerra Memorial Coyote Border Battle'. CSN will face off in non-conference games with Scenic West Athletic Conference foes Salt Lake Community College and the College of Southern Idaho during the weekend.

CSN has been ranked as the No. 20 team in the NJCAA's preseason rankings.

"We know there is a ton of work to do and the ultimate goal for every team in the country is to finish number one," said Garritano.

The Coyotes will open the season on Saturday at Morse Stadium with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch against Salt Lake.
