HENDERSON, Nev. (November 4, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada Men's Basketball program fell in its 2021-22 season opener Thursday.
CSN, hosting the 'Silver State Schools Credit Union Basketball Invitational', dropped an 85-71 decision to Western Wyoming to open the tournament. The Coyotes are now 0-1.
Both CSN and WWCC played well in the first half, with Western Wyoming taking just a 37-34 lead at halftime. However, the Mustangs powered to a 48-37 advantage in the second half, shooting an incredible 85.7 percent (18-of-21) from the field.
Darren Jones led all scorers in the game, posting 20 points for the Coyotes on 9-of-14 shooting. Jones also had 11 rebounds to finish with the double-double.
Dominique Ford scored 18 points, while Amari Jones scored 9 bench points. CSN shot 43.1 percent from the field (25-of-58) in the game.
Southern Nevada will continue with tournament play Friday, hosting Phoenix College at 9:00 p.m. at Basic Academy High School.
