HENDERSON, Nev. (November 6, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada Men's Basketball team lost a nail-biting non-conference game in a preseason tournament Friday.
CSN, continuing play in the 'Silver State Schools Credit Union Basketball Invitational' at Basic Prep, fell in a narrow 69-66 decision to Phoenix College. The loss drops the Coyotes to 0-2 overall.
In a game that went back-and-forth, Southern Nevada held a 35-28 lead at halftime after limiting Phoenix to just 1-of-10 shooting from three-point range. However, Phoenix clawed back into the game as CSN reclaimed the lead, 66-64, with 1:28 left in the game on an
Amari James basket. Phoenix College went on a 5-0 run to finish the game.
Darren Jones led Southern Nevada with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, while
Dominique Ford also scored 14 points.
Kendrick Gilbert posted 9 points.
Southern Nevada will close the tournament on Saturday, playing against South Mountain Community College at 5:00 p.m.
