HENDERSON, Nev. (November 7, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada Men's Basketball team picked up its first win of the 2021-22 season Saturday, finishing a home tournament victoriously.
CSN earned a thrilling 65-62 win over South Mountain Community College in the final game of the 'Silver State Schools Credit Union Basketball Invitational', closing the tournament with a victory that went down to the final seconds. The Coyotes are now 1-2 overall.
Both CSN and SMCC went back-and-forth throughout the game, with South Mountain holding a narrow 32-28 lead over Southern Nevada at halftime. The Coyotes went on a run in the second half though, outscoring SMCC by a margin of 37-30 to take a 61-58 lead with 1:56 remaining. From there,
Darren Jones closed out the game with four critical free throws to help CSN to the win.
Jones led Southern Nevada with 23 points, going 7-of-13 from the field.
Dominique Ford scored 13 points, while
Dayton Harris and Terrence Marigney both had 6 points.
CSN will host Arizona Western College on Wednesday.
