NORTH LAS VEGAS Nev. (December 8, 2021) – A Scenic West Athletic Conference game with the NJCAA's top-ranked program did not go the way of the College of Southern Nevada Men's Basketball team Wednesday.
The Coyotes lost a 96-75 game with No. 1 Salt Lake Community College at Democracy Prep Wednesday, dropping their first Scenic West game after opening at 2-0. CSN is now 6-5 overall and 2-1 in SWAC games.
CSN played well in the first half, taking a 45-44 halftime lead after limiting SLCC to just 38.3 percent shooting while going 17-of-34 from the field. However, SLCC caught fire in the second half offensively, outscoring Southern Nevada by a margin of 52-30 in the second half. The Coyotes committed 29 turnovers in the game.
Dominique Ford led CSN with 29 points, while
Darren Jones finished with 20 points. Southern Nevada scored 20 bench points.
Southern Nevada will play at USU Eastern on Saturday.
