Baseball: The No. 20 CSN Coyotes will not take an off-week, instead playing a four-game non-conference series against California Christian College.
CSN will play a single game Thursday, with a doubleheader Friday and a series conclusion on Saturday. All games will be played at Morse Stadium.
Coyotes coach
Nick Garritano said his team will re-center in non-conference play.
"We will use this non-conference week to try and log some innings for guys that haven't thrown as much as others and also try and get some needed at-bats for guys that have been hurt," he said. "It is also an opportunity to try and heal up a little before the final push."
Men's Soccer: CSN will have a just a single match this week, playing in a road contest at Snow College.
The Coyotes are 0-3 on the season, falling narrowly to in-state rival Truckee Meadows last Thursday and getting beat by No. 2 Salt Lake last Saturday. CSN will return home on May 8.
Southern Nevada coach
Yancey Tisdale said his team is ready for to take to the road.
"I felt like we did a good job dealing with changes that were made during the game due to lower number and the guys have shown a resilience that I hope continues as we work towards the conference tournament," he said. "As for improvements, our biggest focus right now is on transition. We have simply given up too many opportunities on counter attacks after losing the ball. We are a young team and the speed of the game in regard to transition is something that must improve (at Snow)."
Women's Soccer: The Lady Coyotes picked up their first victory of the season last week, downing Truckee Meadows in the Scenic Wes Athletic Conference opener.
CSN will have a tall task this week, facing off against nationally-ranked Snow College. This will be the second nationally-ranked team the Lady Coyotes have played, falling to No. 8 Salt Lake last week.
In her weekly comments, Southern Nevada coach
Jocelyn Roach maintained the best is yet to come for her team.
"For us, it was nice to see our team score some goals, coming off the previous week of getting shut out," she said. "Areas of improvement for us come from adjusting our formation and lineups. We are still trying to figure out where some players are going to play and how we can use them effectively."
Softball: After earning a split against Southern Idaho, CSN Softball will take to the road to face off against Snow College in a four-game road series.
The two teams split a pair of games earlier this season, with Southern Nevada earning a doubleheader sweep.
CSN coach
Ashley Johnston said her team is ready for the challenges Snow presents.
"This weekend is extremely important as each game is from here on out," she said. "I think it's important to take our momentum into this coming weekend with Snow. We have to swing the bat a little better than we did this past weekend. Pitching has to continue to get stronger, but I believe we are in a good spot right now and I am looking forward to having a rematch with Snow College. We are trying to hold onto the 3
rd spot in conference so need to make sure to play well this weekend."
