PRICE, UT. (April 22, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada men's soccer team earned its first win of the 2021 season Thursday, downing a Scenic West Athletic Conference foe to start a two-match road swing.
CSN picked up a 4-0 win over USU Eastern, starting fast and never surrendering momentum. The victory lifts CSN to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in Scenic West standings.
Alfredo Diaz got the Coyotes on the board early, with Diaz scoring on a Diego Gonzales assist at the 5:57-mark in the first half.
Daniel Garciacano scored an unassisted goal minutes later, with
Eli Zaragosa scoring in the 27
th minute. Mihreteab Tesfamaria posted a goal on a penalty-kick later in the opening half.
Both CSN and USU Eastern posted 13 shots apiece, with the Coyotes holding a narrow 7-6 edge in shots-on-goal. Diaz posted a team-high six shots.
Ivan Rodriguez and
Sebastian St. Jules combined for the victory at goal, posting a shutout that was led by St. Jules's four saves.
Southern Nevada will travel to play at Colorado Northwestern on Saturday.
