CSN Men’s Soccer opens Region 18 tourney Tuesday

HERRIMAN, UT. (May 18, 2021) – An abbreviated season changed the pace of the year for the College of Southern Nevada men's soccer team. Now the Coyotes are headed to the postseason, less than two months after opening the 2021 spring season.

Southern Nevada will open the 2021 Region 18 tournament on Tuesday, facing off against Snow College as the No. 3 seed in a 5:30 p.m. semifinal. The winner will advance to a championship matchup between the winner of another semifinal between Salt Lake and Truckee Meadows.

CSN coach Yancey Tisdale said his team is excited to open the postseason.

"We have a very strong conference and know that we will have our hands full with both Snow and SLCC," he said. "Both teams are very talented and will be along the line of what we would see beyond our conference tournament."

Southern Nevada went 0-3 against the Badgers during the season, including a close 2-1 preseason loss early in the year. The Coyotes did close the year with a strong win over USU Eastern, setting the stage for a potential postseason run.

"I think now we know that every game is do or die," Tisdale said. "There is no more focus beyond your next game, so all your energy goes into learning about your next opponent and what must happen to continue on your road to a national championship."
