HENDERSON, Nev. (December 2, 2022) – Scenic West Athletic Conference play has finally come for the College of Southern Nevada Men's Basketball team.
A month into the season, CSN opened up league play with the first of a back-to-back weekend series against No. 16 Snow College. The Coyotes unfortunately fell in the first game of the set Friday, dropping an 86-79 score to fall to 5-7 overall and 0-1 in league play.
In a game where Snow never trailed, the Coyotes always stayed within shouting distance, with the Badgers never taking a lead larger than 13 points. Unfortunately, CSN trailed 46-40 at halftime and never could gain enough momentum in the second half to claim the lead in spite of tying the score twice.
Southern Nevada was mostly efficient offensively, albeit with a 1-of-17 performance at the three-point line causing problems throughout the game. CSN's
Darren Jones, who earlier this week won NJCAA national weekly honors, posted a double-double of 29 points and 18 rebounds.
Kendrick Gilbert scored 12 points, while
Ray Daniels and
Anthony Swift both scored 10 points.
The Coyotes will face Snow again on Saturday, with the game tipping
