HENDERSON, Nev. (February 19, 2022) – A joyous day ended in disappointing fashion for the College of Southern Nevada Men's Basketball team.
The Coyotes dropped an 81-79 decision to No. 23 College of Southern Idaho Saturday, falling on a 'Sophomore Day' that saw CSN honor () players. With the loss, CSN finishes the 2021-22 regular season with an overall record of 13-17 and a mark of 7-11 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
In a game that went back-and-forth, a pair of late CSI free throws lifted the Golden Eagles to the nail-biting victory. CSN led 42-36 at halftime, thanks to limiting CSI to just 31.7 percent shooting and a mark of 2-of-13 from three-point range. CSN then had its own offensive struggles in the second half, getting outscored 45-37 in the period.
Dominique Ford led CSN with 25 points, while
Darren Jones posted 20 points on 10-of-13 shooting.
John Jenkins added 12 points.
Southern Nevada will now await its opponent in next week's Region 18 championships, which will be hosted by Salt Lake Community College.
