Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Nev. (April 9, 2023) – A critical series in the Scenic West Athletic Conference started on Easter Sunday in West Jordan at Salt Lake Community College's Cate Field.
 
With the Scenic West lead at stake, No. 16 Southern Nevada and Salt Lake dueled in the first day of their Scenic West series, with the Coyotes sweeping the day with wins of 5-4 and 5-2. The day's results set CSN at 31-7 overall and 15-3 in Scenic West play.
 
The day's play was marked by a few notable plays, with Hunter Katschke hitting a go-ahead home run late in game one. Gavin Mez also hit a late home run to boost the Coyotes to a lead in game two. 
 
CSN skipper Nick Garritano also posted a personal highlight in the victories, earning his 800^th win as a Las Vegas Valley head coach in the day's opening game. Garritano has led Southern Nevada to over 400 wins, earning multiple Region 18 championships, topping his already-successful career as a prep coach at Green Valley.
 
The Coyotes will play Salt Lake in another doubleheader Monday.
