The College of Southern Nevada volleyball team fought hard in their home match against Central Arizona College, ultimately falling 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17). Despite the loss, the Coyotes displayed resilience and energy, securing a third-set victory and pushing Central Arizona throughout the match.
Central Arizona started strong, taking control of the first two sets with efficient attacking and solid defense. The Vaqueros' balanced offense was led by Olivia Bartrina, who had a match-high 17 kills, and Carolina Moreno, who added 15 kills. The Coyotes struggled to find their rhythm early, hitting .111 in the first set and .000 in the second, as Central Arizona built a 2-0 lead with 25-15 and 25-16 set victories.
However, the Coyotes roared back in the third set, showing grit and determination. Led by Sydney Hall, who finished with 10 kills on 45 attempts, and Jeannie Anderson, who added 6 kills, CSN improved their play. The Coyotes cut down on errors and capitalized on Central Arizona's mistakes to take the third set 25-20, much to the delight of the home crowd at Coyote Event Center.
The fourth set saw the Coyotes continue to battle, but Central Arizona's depth and power proved too much. Despite a valiant effort, the Vaqueros closed out the match 25-17. For the Coyotes, Kenzy Arafa stood out with 4 kills and 20 assists, while Margaret Sharkey added 4 kills and 4 aces, keeping the Coyotes competitive from the service line.
With the loss, the Coyotes fall to 0-15 on the season and 0-8 in conference play. They will look to turn things around in their next home match as they continue to develop and strive for their first win of the season.
