CSN Athletics Honored with Nevada Governor’s Points of Light Nomination

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Athletics Department has been recognized for its outstanding commitment to community service, earning a nomination for the prestigious Nevada Governor's Points of Light Award in the Collegiate Community Leadership division. The department received a certificate of recognition from the State of Nevada Office of Governor Joe Lombardo, in partnership with Nevada Volunteers, highlighting their significant contributions to the community.

This honor reflects the collective efforts of CSN's student-athletes, who managed to donate an incredible 4,800 hours of community service over the past year. Their selfless dedication is even more impressive given their demanding schedules, balancing schoolwork, team practices, and competitive athletics.

"We are deeply honored to be nominated for the Nevada Governor's Points of Light Award and to receive this recognition from Governor Joe Lombardo and Nevada Volunteers," said Yvonne Wade Director of Athletics and Recreation. "Our student-athletes exemplify the values of hard work, leadership, and service, and this acknowledgment is a testament to their unwavering commitment to giving back to the community that supports us."

CSN Athletics has embraced community service as a cornerstone of its mission, encouraging student-athletes to lead both on and off the field. From volunteering at local events like the Opportunity Village Magical Forest to mentoring young athletes and participating in charitable drives, CSN's teams consistently strive to make a difference in Southern Nevada.

The nomination for the Governor's Points of Light Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate extraordinary leadership and service within their communities. By earning a place among the nominees, CSN Athletics has solidified its role as a leader in collegiate community engagement across Nevada.

This recognition is a proud moment for the CSN Coyotes, their coaches, and staff, and it underscores the department's commitment to excellence beyond athletics. With over 200 student-athletes participating in various sports programs, the department continues to inspire others through its service-driven culture.

CSN Athletics extends its gratitude to Governor Joe Lombardo, Nevada Volunteers, and the Las Vegas community for their support and encouragement. As the department looks forward to another year of success on the field and in the classroom, it remains dedicated to making a lasting positive impact in the community.
