In a commanding display of skill and determination, the College of Southern Nevada baseball team secured an impressive 8-1 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College at Morse Stadium. The win showcased the team's depth and resilience, solidifying their position as a force to be reckoned with in the conference.
Right from the start, the Coyotes set the tone for the game, scoring a run in the first inning to take an early lead. They continued to apply pressure, adding runs in each of the following innings to maintain control of the game.
Center fielder Jet Gilliam led the offensive charge for the Coyotes, going 1-for-3 at the plate with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored. Left fielder Garrison Geis also made a significant impact, blasting a home run and contributing two RBIs and two runs scored.
First baseman Mikey Cruz and designated hitter Ashton Zacher each contributed an RBI, while catcher Derek Smith and second baseman Nickey Garritano also drove in runs to support the Coyotes' offensive onslaught.
On the pitching side, Naun Haro delivered a stellar performance, pitching six solid innings and allowing just one run on eight hits. Haro's command of the strike zone and ability to keep Colorado Northwestern's hitters off balance were instrumental in securing the victory.
The Coyotes' defense also shined, making crucial plays behind Haro and reliever Kaden Soder, who closed out the game with a scoreless inning of relief.
Despite the loss, Colorado Northwestern battled hard throughout the game, with J. Kauffman leading their offense with a 1-for-3 performance, including an RBI.
With the win, the College of Southern Nevada improves to 15-7 on the season and looks to carry this momentum forward as they continue their quest for a conference championship.
