PRICE, Utah — The College of Southern Nevada men's basketball team opened the USU Eastern Invitational on Friday night with a 97–61 loss to tournament host Utah State University Eastern.
USU Eastern took immediate control, opening the game on a 14–0 run and shooting better than 59 percent in the first half. The Eagles went into halftime with a 52–32 advantage, powered by efficient scoring inside and a strong rebounding margin.
CSN found its early offense through sophomore guard Ivoryon Cuffee, who scored 12 first-half points and knocked down two three-pointers during a brief Coyote push. Forward Gerald Patterson added eight points before the break, helping steady CSN during stretches of heavy pressure.
After halftime, the Coyotes were led by Ryan Raad, who scored nine of his team-high 14 points in the second half while adding six rebounds and two assists. Patterson finished with 12 points and five boards, and Cuffee totaled 14 points and three rebounds on the night.
Despite CSN's efforts, Utah State Eastern continued its efficient shooting, finishing at 54.8 percent overall and placing five players in double figures. Seven Bahati led the Eagles with 22 points on 11-of-13 shooting.
The Coyotes shot 32.3 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from three-point range, while converting 13 of 17 attempts from the free-throw line. CSN was out-rebounded 46–29 but collected eight steals, including two from Demarion Yap, who also contributed seven points and four assists.
The loss moves CSN to 5–3 on the season. The Coyotes continue play at the USU Eastern Invitational on Saturday.
