Lady Coyotes Open Holiday Invitational with Convincing Win

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. The College of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes opened the CSN Women's Basketball Holiday Invitational in strong fashion Monday night, rolling past the Nellis Diamonds 78–46 at the Coyote Event Center.

After a competitive opening quarter, CSN asserted control over the final three periods, outscoring Nellis 66–29 to improve to 9–2 on the season. The Lady Coyotes used balanced scoring, relentless rebounding, and defensive pressure to pull away and turn the opener into a decisive victory.

CSN trailed 17–12 after the first quarter but quickly found its rhythm in the second. The Lady Coyotes outscored the Diamonds 20–11 in the period to take a 32–28 lead into halftime, sparked by strong guard play and improved ball movement. Momentum fully shifted coming out of the break as CSN dominated the third quarter 24–5, holding Nellis to just two field goals while building a commanding double-digit advantage.

Trista Mabry led all scorers with 20 points, adding nine rebounds while shooting 7-of-15 from the floor and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. Saroiya Ajomale contributed 13 points and eight rebounds, while Satsuki Bradley knocked down three three-pointers on her way to 11 points. Off the bench, Mya Harper added 10 points and three steals, providing a spark on both ends of the floor.

CSN dominated the glass, outrebounding Nellis 71–36, including 32 offensive rebounds that fueled multiple second-chance opportunities. Alanna Jackson posted a standout effort inside with eight points and a game-high 17 rebounds, while Leah Mitchell chipped in nine rebounds to go along with five points.

The Lady Coyotes continued to extend the lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Diamonds 22–13 as the bench saw extended minutes and contributed to the final margin.

Nellis was led by Brianna James, who scored 14 points, while Patricia Sanz added seven off the bench. The Diamonds were limited to 28.8 percent shooting for the game as CSN's defensive pressure forced 22 turnovers.

The Lady Coyotes will continue tournament play on Tuesday, December 16, when they face Western Wyoming Community College at 3:00 p.m. in day two of the CSN Women's Basketball Holiday Invitational.
