Top-Seeded Coyotes Set to Host Central Arizona in Best-of-Three Showdown for Western District Berth

HENDERSON, NV – The stage is set for a high-stakes postseason clash at Morse Stadium as the #1-seeded College of Southern Nevada Coyotes welcome the #3-seeded Central Arizona College Vaqueros for the Region 1 Baseball Championship Series. This best-of-three showdown opens Thursday, May 8 at 3:00 p.m., continues Friday, May 9 at 3:00 p.m., and, if necessary, will conclude with a decisive game three on Saturday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m.

All games will be held at CSN's home ballpark—Morse Stadium at Lied Field—where the Coyotes look to protect their turf and secure a return to the Western District Tournament.

This year's Region 1 finale features two powerhouse programs familiar with each other's strengths and weaknesses. The Coyotes and Vaqueros split their six head-to-head matchups during the regular ACCAC campaign, going 3-3 in a season series that showcased competitive balance, timely hitting, and deep pitching staffs on both sides. With a berth to the Western District Tournament on the line, the rubber match of this season-long rivalry will be played on the biggest stage of the Region 1 calendar.

CSN (45-11) earned the #1 seed after a dominant regular season and semifinal series win over Yavapai College in last weekend's best-of-three set. The Coyotes boast one of the most balanced lineups in the ACCAC, with consistent run production from top to bottom, a steady rotation, and a bullpen that has delivered in high-leverage moments all season.

Their path through the regular season included key wins over Central Arizona, showing their ability to rise to the occasion. The pitching staff, led by a rotation that mixes velocity and command, will be crucial in keeping Central Arizona's explosive offense in check. Offensively, the Coyotes have leaned on timely extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning to manufacture pressure on opponents throughout the year.

Central Arizona (seeded #3) arrives in Henderson with momentum following a semifinal series win over #2-seeded Cochise College. The Vaqueros are no strangers to championship environments and have a long history of postseason success. Known for their aggressive offensive approach and resilient pitching staff, the Vaqueros will look to spoil the Coyotes' home field advantage and return to the Western District tournament themselves.

Central Arizona's offense features power threats and gap-to-gap hitters capable of putting up big innings, while their pitching staff is built to handle the grind of a three-game series. With both teams having seen each other often this season, expect strategy, execution, and in-game adjustments to be major factors throughout the weekend.

The winner of this Region 1 Championship Series will move on to the Western District Tournament, scheduled for next week, where they'll face the champions from Region 18 and Region 9. A ticket to that next stage brings them one step closer to the ultimate destination: the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
